Our story

Quality equipment, given a second life.

Medical and mobility equipment is expensive. Families often need it for years, but sometimes only need it briefly — and quality items sit unused while others can't afford them. Second Spin exists to close that gap.

Why we started

Independence shouldn't be out of reach.

A new wheelchair, standing frame, or hoist can cost more than many families earn in a year. Yet across South Africa, perfectly good equipment is gathering dust in cupboards and storerooms — a child outgrew it, a loved one no longer needs it, a clinic upgraded.

Second Spin collects, refurbishes, and rehomes that equipment. We give it a thorough service in our workshop, then offer it at a fraction of new-retail prices — so more families can access the support they need.

Our process

From their home to yours

Every piece of equipment goes through the same four-step workshop process before we list it for sale.

1

Collect

We collect donated, traded-in, or consigned equipment from across the region — at no cost to the previous owner.

2

Inspect

Every item is checked for safety, function, and wear. We're honest about what we can refurbish and what we can't.

3

Refurbish

Our technicians service, clean, and repair each piece — replacing worn parts, re-padding seating, and confirming everything works as it should.

4

Rehome

Once it passes our checks, we list it on the site — fully described, fairly priced, and ready for its next chapter.
